Parents are heading into that time of the school-year when calendars are chock full of plays, concerts, games, matches, meets, meetings, programs, SOLs, AP exams and so on. Let me throw a couple more dates into the mix:
On Wednesday, May 14, Delegate Rob Krupicka will be the guest speaker at the Alexandria PTA Council meeting in the Media Center at the Minnie Howard campus of T.C. Williams High School (3801 W. Braddock Road, Alexandria, VA 22302). He will discuss education issues and legislation from the 2014 General Assembly, including SOL reform, the A-F school grading system, the status of the OEI law, and other topics affecting our schools and students.
The meeting will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. Please park in the large lot next to the athletic field and enter through the main doors facing Braddock Road.
On Friday, May 16, the Chinquapin Park Recreation Center & Aquatics Facility is hosting a Family Fun Night from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. The cost is $4 per person. In addition to water games, there will be summer camp and swim team sign-ups.

Middle School Update
The new middle school leadership teams for the coming school year will be announced during the last week of May. Also, according to Dr. Crawley, because of the expected enrollment, there will be three guidance counselors per grade at Francis Hammond middle school and two counselors per grade at George Washington middle school, which is slightly different from the information given in the FAQs on the ACPS website regarding the middle school consolidations.
